Webinar Dates
In 2026, this course will be offered live for 6 weeks on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:00 PM (Eastern) from September 21 – October 26. While we encourage live attendance so you have the opportunity to engage with presenters and ask questions, all webinars are recorded and posted in the online classroom to watch anytime. Once enrolled in this course, you will retain access to all materials indefinitely and can return to participate in the live webinars in future offerings of the course if you wish. Join us!
Weekly Topics
Our weekly webinars are designed to expose you to a wide range of farmers, farming styles, enterprises, and business models.
First webinar (Sept 21): Sarah Williford
Join course facilitator Sarah Williford for an intro to the course, farming advice from successful farmers.for an introduction to holistic planning and decision making for your farm.
Second webinar (Sept 28): Sarah Williford
Review of Week 1 homework and questions; then Sarah will share East Brook Farm's start-up process, focusing especially on how her family's values have shaped their decision-making and goal-setting.
Third webinar (Oct 5): Guest Kate Marsiglio Stony Creek Farm, Walton NY
Review of Week 2 homework and questions; then we will be joined by
Fourth webinar (Oct 12): Guests Kitty and Jess of Iridescent Earth Collective, Delancy NY
Review of the Week 3 homework and questions;
Fifth webinar (Oct 19): Guest Farmer
Review of Week 4 homework and questions.
Sixth webinar (Oct 26):
We will have a few of brave volunteer students from this course share their farm start-up plan so far, and allow time for a final Q&A at the end. This webinar may stretch a little longer than the previous weeks, depending on how many student presenters we have and how many questions you all want to discuss!

- Oct 5: Review Week 2 homework and discussion with Kate Marsiglio from Stony Creek Farm, Walton NY.
- Oct 12: Review Week 3 homework and Q&A with Kitty and Jess of Iridescent Earth Collective.
- Oct 19: Review Week 4 homework; extended webinar session until 8:30 PM.
- Oct 26: Student presentations of farm start-up plans; final Q&A. Webinar may run longer depending on participation.
Zoom Participant’s Guide for Webinar Access
- General Use: Course webinars use Zoom. Live video is generally not shown to accommodate rural internet bandwidth.
- Participants are muted by default to manage audio quality but encouraged to participate via chat and Q&A.
- Most webinars feature a PowerPoint presentation with audio commentary.
How to Join Webinars
- Click the webinar link provided via email or posted in the course platform 15-20 minutes before the session starts.
- The Zoom app will download automatically if not already installed. Follow prompts to install and run the app. Administrative password may be required on Macs.
- Enter the meeting password posted by the instructor to join.
Audio Setup
- Upon joining, select “Join by Computer” to use your device’s speakers and microphone.
- Test audio via the “Test Computer Audio” option before joining.
- If preferred, join audio via phone by selecting the “Join by Phone” tab and dialing in as instructed.
- If the audio join prompt does not appear, click “Meeting” > “Join Audio” from the Zoom menu.
Joining via Mobile Devices
- Download the official Zoom app from your mobile device’s app store.
- Enter the meeting ID provided in the course platform 15 minutes before the session.
- Note: Mobile participation may limit your ability to see presentation materials clearly or engage fully.
System Requirements and Troubleshooting
- Check your device compatibility with Zoom at the official Zoom support website.
- For technical issues, contact Zoom support directly at https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362003. Support is available 24/7.
